Exterminate plans, a seven-week Doctor Who marathon is coming to Twitch.

The social streaming platform has announced a partnership with BBC Studios which will see the first ever online broadcasting event of the classic Doctor Who series.

We're talking 500 glorious episodes from 26 seasons of TARDIS-fuelled adventures with your favourite Time Lord from the planet Gallifrey, shown over a seven-week period from May 29 to July 23.

The episodes will range from the show's humble beginnings in 1963 and run all the way to the 1980s — the William Hartnell, Tom Baker, and Jon Pertwee years, not the Matt Smith, David Tennant, or Peter Capaldi series of recent times.

The throwback marathon kicks off May 29 from TwitchPresents, and runs Monday to Friday over the seven weeks from 11am PT, which gives you nights to regenerate. If you subscribe to the TwitchPresents channel, you can unlock 14 emotes (like emoji), themed after each of the first seven doctors.

It's great promotional moment for the BBC, who saw Capaldi regenerated, as per tradition from the TARDIS, as the Thirteenth Doctor Jodie Whittaker in the Christmas special in December 2017. Whittaker will officially take the reins when Doctor Who returns to BBC1 in fall 2018.

Doctor Who and its clever take on sci-fi exemplifies the type of adjacent content to gaming that has resonated with the Twitch community,” said Jane Weedon, director of business development at Twitch, in a statement.

“By presenting this iconic BBC show in a new interactive format, it is a fun new way to bridge several generations of Doctor Who fans, while building a new generation of them.”

Twitch is striking up some impressive commercial broadcast partnerships of late, with their recent NBC Universal deal resulting in a 48-hour marathon of classic Saturday Night Live sketches.
