The entire internet gasped at Mike Pence's 'Mexican thing' comment

Everyone on the internet just audibly gasped while watching the Vice Presidential debate.

During the final portion of the evening, Democratic candidate Tim Kaine brought up some racist and xenophobic comments Trump has made in the past, including describing Mexicans as "rapists and criminals" -- a comment he made in 2015 when he announced his run for president.

Pence interrupted Kaine by saying, "Senator, you whipped out that Mexican thing again."

If the internet could do a double take, it would.

People on Twitter were purely flabbergasted by the dismissive comment. Some were shocked to the point of anger, while others were so stunned they could only be amused by the moment.

We're all still recovering from that one.
