A West Virginia mother was acquitted late last month after facing obstruction charges for stepping between her dog and an officer who looked prepared to kill it.

Tiffanie Hupp, 23, ran between West Virginia State Trooper Seth Cook and her dog, Buddy, after Cook pulled a gun on the dog in May 2015.

Hupp's husband, Ryan, used his cellphone to record video of the incident, which he put online weeks later. Police had reportedly confiscated his phone, but returned it without deleting the video.

In the video, as seen above, Buddy comes up to the officer and barks while wagging his tail. Hupp runs between them, and the officer spins her around. She falls but gets up quickly, after which the officer handcuffs her.

Buddy's collar was allegedly hooked to a chain in the front yard when the officer arrived.

Police were at the home checking on a dispute between neighbors. Hupp had been outside with her 3-year-old son.

“I’ve never had a problem with officers before," Hupp told the Charleston Gazette-Mail. "I’m a little nervous around them now.”
