Multiplayer horror game Dead by Daylight is adding Nicolas Cage. Why? We don't ask those questions here.

A brief teaser trailer has revealed famous Hollywood actor Nicolas Cage will be introduced to Dead by Daylight in an upcoming update, becoming one of the four survivors working to escape a sadistic killer hunting them down.

Cage will be playing himself, a role he already has some experience with. No word yet on what the thespian's abilities will be, but more details will be released on Jul. 5.

Released in 2016, Dead by Daylight has previously been updated to add a slew of well-known characters from various horror franchises, such as Halloween's Laurie Strode, Evil Dead's Ash Williams, a moaning Leon S. Kennedy from Resident Evil, and Stranger Things' Nancy and Steve. It's also included fictional killers like Freddy Krueger, Michael Myers, and The Ring's Sadako.

However, Cage's addition marks the first time Dead by Daylight has just straight up added a real human person.

Hopefully it won't be the last. While Cage has been cast as a terrified victim, this update opens up the possibility of eventually having real people ham it up in the role of bloodthirsty killer. Personally, I have my fingers crossed for Actual Cannibal Shia LaBeouf.
