Stephen Colbert would like you to stop spreading the rumor that Trump's running mate JD Vance had sex with a couch, please.
During his Late Show monologue on Thursday, and fresh from the previous day of mocking one of Vance's awkward rally speeches, Colbert addressed the internet rumour, which (falsely) claims Vance admitted to having sex with a couch in his Hillbilly Elegy book.
"This just shows how big a problem misinformation can be," says Colbert in the clip above. "Even a well-meaning fact check can wind up amplifying a false story. So all of us – all of us – please, have a responsibility to stop the spread of vicious rumors, like: JD Vance had sex with a couch."
