Ellie and Riley. Riley and Ellie. We're still a sobbing mess on the Halloween costume shop floor.

The Last of Us episode 7 was another full-on heartbreaker and frankly, if I get to the end of this show in one piece it'll be a Cordyceps miracle. But before Riley (Storm Reid) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey) had the happiest day of their life plunged into the worst, the pair got to run around an abandoned but fully-powered mall, playing Mortal Kombat II, riding a carousel, hitting the photobooth, and dancing and kissing on top of a store counter.

In the behind the scenes clip above, released by HBO post-ep, the creators and cast of The Last of Us take you through the episode, including some neat looks at the mall set, an incredibly detailed world thanks to set decorator Paul Healy.

The Last of Us is now streaming on HBO Max. New episodes air every Sunday at 9 p.m. ET on HBO.
