There's no punch line, because it actually happened.

Drinkers at the Customs House Hotel in Hobart, in the state of Tasmania, Australia, were treated to an unexpected guest on Wednesday afternoon when a penguin waddled by the bar.

Given the name Pablo, the penguin was first was spotted by a group who saw it run underneath a parked car directly outside of the hotel. Tasmanians are used to the odd sea animal wandering around, such as Molly the elephant seal who was spotted hanging out on people's lawns last year, but this is the first time a penguin has been spotted at this bar.

"A worker who had just knocked off ran in to let everyone know," Rob Jubb, the hotel's manager, told Mashable Australia via email. "Another girl and a few others coaxed the penguin out from under the car, before throwing her work shirt over the animal to capture it and get it out of harms way."

Pablo the penguin was then taken inside the bar, where he respectfully declined an alcoholic beverage -- instead opting for a drop of water to rehydrate. "We then rang a sanctuary who suggested we take it to a vet," Jubb said.

Just another wild day in Australia.
